Help says you can't turn off gaps -- one of the many reasons to use iTunes to rip, organize, and burn.

I usually listen though in WiMP or VLC...

iTunes is better in many ways anyway. I do bad things like use MP3s to burn CD-audio for people who only have ancient 80s technology, and iTunes is faster.

I turn off copying files into iTunes and keep files organize elsehwere.
